Do Over
Oh DAMN IT!
The power just blipped out here long enough to crash my computer and obliterate the post I had almost finished {IF STEVE DOES NOT AGREE TO BUY A BACKUP GENERATOR BEFORE THE END OF THE SUMMER I WILL HOLD MY BREATH UNTIL I TURN BLUE. It's not even the internet, although I miss you dearly when you are gone, but the well does not provide water when we have no power, comprends?} It was a boring post, I'll admit it, and the loss to American Letters will be slight, but I no longer have time to even offer anything equally boring in its place. I did want to let you know that I am feeling much better, though, and thank you.
I will be seeing my OBGyn for an annual tomorrow (apparently 500000 useless prenatal visit do not accumulate towards a yearly exam so I am WAY overdue for one.) I will ask her about all the HSG grossness when I see her. You know, I felt exactly like I did after the IVF egg retrieval. The HSG itself did not hurt at all but, ick, afterwards, ye gods. I am guessing that I get unsettled by fluids seeping into my delicate flowerlike pelvis.
Right now I have to go help Steve paint the basement. They are installing the carpet on Tuesday and Steve's little foray into adding windows all over the damn place has set back the schedule. By, like, over a month, but that's ok. All that natural light and fresh air are rather nice, if you are into that sort of thing.
Back tomorrow.

Oh, um, here's a picture of Patrick taken last week when I asked him to smile for the camera.
I uploaded it for the other post, the Lost Post, but I might as well link to it anyway. Nice face, huh? Note that he is eating "cheese with holes." Steve and I actually had to CALL MY MOTHER and ask her what she thought Patrick meant when he kept asking for it. "Uh, Swiss cheese?" my mother said. Ohhhhhhh, we said.
He's so big! The last picture I remember seeing of him was more baby than little boy. Thought of you when a good looking Steve was on the Today show this morning-I should get a life. Have fun at the gyno.

God, that kid is cute. I also like the cheese with holes. I ate some on a sandwich tonight.
And, uh, yeah. Have fun at the gyno. (*evil laugh*)

Good heavens, he is absolutely adorable! How do you get anything done around your house when you have such cuteness just demanding to be snuggled?

Patrick is absolutely adorable! I'm so glad you're feeling better.

Patrick is ADORABLE I hope you get another one resembling him soon. But not until you tell Steve's adoption story. (No pressure.)

I don't believe a generator would solve your problem with losing your posts, although it would fix your water problems.
Typically, backup generators are not seamless...the power goes out, and they kick in a few seconds later, which is still more than enough time to lose any unsaved data.
But don't fret, My Pretty, because your problem is easily solved, and it's the fix is cheap. You need something called an uninterruptible power supply for your PC. You could probably get by with a standby model, which will set you back about $50. When the power fluctuates or goes off, you have enough time to save your bon mots.
Patrick is quite the little man.

That child is absolutely edible. Is that his no papparazzi smile? :)

He is so SO adorable! I had to giggle at the expression on his face. Thanks for sharing a pic.

All of a sudden he looks so big! You don't post pics often, I realize this, but my goodness he still had a babyface that last time you posted and I'm sure it wasn't *that* long ago. He's adorable.
Glad you feel better, hope all goes well at your Dr's office!

What a cute little muffin man!

That picure of Patrick is adorable. He kin dof looks like how I expect our son to look like (basically like my husband) because of his hair and nose and eyes.
I don't know how much a generator costs, but you can go to Staples and buy a battery back up for your computer that will provide power for a while if it goes out ($$ depends on length of time it is out, but a basic one would cost $100 or less). You just plug your computer into it and it protects against outages--you'd certainly have enough time to save what you were doing and maybe even finish it before powering down. We have them at work and they've saved us during a few storms where we lost power briefly.
Still reading, faithfully and hoping for better things for you reproductively,
Julie

I seldom comment but read often (I guess that is called lurking but I am not too sinister). I am curious what color you ended up doing in the basement-both paint and carpet). Can you put that question in the mailbag, or post a picture? We are doing our basement and am very curious. Thanks!
Good luck with the other more important things. Patrick is SO cute!
Amy
P.S. So jealous that Steve can do that stuff himself! (-:

He is SO cute! When was he born? (I'm too lazy to fish around in your archives to figure it out). I love your furniture, BTW.

I should have added that I am experiencing exactly the same "no photos!" thing ... in fact I just posted about that last night. I don't know if my toddler is shy or annoyed, or what, but our picture-taking has taken a huge nosedive! He sees the camera and scrunches up his face or turns his back ... ugh.

That is a cute kid.
And your mom is precious. Also, a little more on the ball than you, eh? Must be the paint fumes....

Definitely get your lovely little hands on a uninterruptible power supply. We cannot be denied our regular posts. Also, desperately awaiting pics of the finished basement, and more of the adorable Patrick.

Definitely a UPS. D. has a bazillion of them and they save all his toys...err, WORK EQUIPMENT. Its basically a battery that'll give you a few minutes of power to save your work and shut down properly. My dad lives in a region that suffers a lot of brownouts and blackouts - its saved his stuff numerous times.
Patrick is really cute. :)
