Ugh

The HSG was no problem, a little pinchy, a lot embarrassing (will describe later) but physically quite easy.

Seven hours later, however, and I suddenly feel awful. Horrible cramps, nauseous... really really gross.

Does this sound normal? Has it happened to you?

I had an HSG in February. I didn't really get cramps or anything, but they warned me I might from all the dye shit that's been squirted up there. I think cramps are fairly normal, and I expect feeling like shit afterwards is too, but why not call your doctor, if only for a bit of reassurance?

I was told the same thing, re the cramps (but not the nausea) also that spotting could occur for a few days afterwards.

Feeling awful with horrible cramps and nausea does NOT sound normal, Julia. Please call your doctor to be safe. It can't hurt, right? Love to you, my friend.

I had some cramping for a couple hours after the HSG but not really anything that night. I would agree with Danae and say that your symptoms could be something you want to get checked out if they are still hanging around tomorrow!

A slight cramp during (I yelled "shit!"), lots hours later. No nausea, though. HTH.

I had a rather uncomfortable HSG a year ago. My right tube was blocked and the Doc decided to try and PRY it open by pushing extra hard on the syringe and forcing the dye into it.

It didnt work.

I had a lot of cramping and bright red bleeding. No nausea though. I hope you're okay.

Sorry to say I had a bad HSG experience. A few hours later horrible stomach pains, cramping and fever. I ended up in the ER & then admitted for a few days with an infection. I had a hydrosalpinx & the fluid (or sludge as my RE refered to it) was pushed into my abdominal cavity. It was a mess. If I ever have another I would definitly prophylax with Doxycycline.
I'm hoping your situation is not that & just the normal cramps people have post-HSG. Good luck!
PS You may also remember I was the one who had an infection in my arm after having an IV. As you can see I'm very lucky!

I hate that the doctors describe that procedure as "a little uncomfortable" Have any of them actually had it done? Doctor tried to pry my tube open too...led to semi-restrained screaming noise. I literally had to elbow them all aside and run for the bathroom afterwards so I didn't pee myself. Bathroom was inconveniently located off of waiting room a couple hundred feet away so everyone got to see the mad dash.

I drove myself home...really, why didn't they tell me that was a bad idea. I felt crampy and pinchy for about 24 hours. Motrin my ass, bring on something stronger.

Karen

Yeah. I'm with the call the doc camp. Hope you have already, just to be sure. I loaded up on Motrin before and felt absolutely nothing after. Just went right on with my day...

I had one 10 years ago. It was god awful, they couldn't get the tube or whatever threaded into my cervix. The Dr. was ready to give up and I told him I wasn't getting off the table until it was done.
I went to work afterwards, boy was that a mistake! It was horrible, but you should feel better tommorow

I was sore, for sure, after my HSG, but nauseous? I don't think that sounds right. I'd call that doc and ask what's the dilly.

Both my tubes were blocked, but were able to be forced open by the dye. I felt rotten afterwards. Go ahead and call your doctor, I called mine, and everything was fine, but for hours I was convinced I was in trouble. This seems to be one of those procedures where the experiences vary widely. This was one of the most painful things I've ever done, and I've had 5 abdominal surgeries.

Good luck, feel better.

Please post and tell us you are okay...ugh...need quicker updates!!!

I'm sorry you're feeling crappy. I hope it's nothing, and they reassure you, post haste. If it's just normal pain, send it my way, they're removing all my parts tomorrow anyway, and I'll be fileted like a good steak. So what do I care? I'm getting morphine. And parts I no longer have can't hurt, so just send the ouchies my way. I'll take care of them for you. ; )

The early(er) Americans were fond of their claret too. Claret Cup was oh so warming and healing. Didn't know I could find a real, honest to goodness claret (although I suspect this is a modern, uppy-scaly claret, since it's unlikely early American clarets had that blend). Perhaps I'll be able to complete my course in early American mixology after all.

Here's hoping for wondrous results with the next cycle.

As for D&C and cancer, well, my personal case history isn't especially reassuring, but I'm anecdotal at best. Besides, it's incredibly rare in premenopausal women, it's easy to find in postmenopausal women, and caught early (I hope, I hope, I hope!) it's entirely, wonderfully treatable, usually with surgery. 96% survival at the earliest stage ain't bad!

So get your PAP's, tell anyone who says AGUS is the same as ASCUS to read the current research and go straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200, and if you have ANY Peri/post menopausal bleeding, or any bleeding that is abnormal for *you*, well, see the above. Don't wait. Heavier flow and clots are not normal, if they're not normal for you.

Hugs, and my best to you.

Crystal

Oh, you've probably just got a hangover.

Seriously, though, if you're feeling that punk, call the doc.

I get terrible nausea from each catheter-related procedure. But call the doc! You have had enough stuff done to know what your normal reaction is.

My HSG was VERY painful but no nausea after. Maybe calling the DR. would be a good idea.

Mine hurt like a MTHFR.

I had just about the same symptoms as you after my HSG. The procedure itself hurt like hell! A little uncomfortable my ass.

The cramps were worse than menstrual cramps but not unbearable. They had told me to take an Advil before but it didn't help at all. I took a Naproxen when I got home and it seemed to help.

I was very nauseous and felt sick and a little feverish for about 18 hours afterwards. By the next afternoon I felt a lot better.

Hope you feel better soon.

How are you feeling today?

Probably way too late to be of any help, but my RE always Rx'd three days of doxy when I had mine done. Maybe if yours does the same, the nausea is doxy-related instead of procedure related? Some people really get sick on that stuff.

Hope you're feeling better today.

Before my HSG, I was told that I might experience some 'mild discomfort.' In my world, mild discomfort describes the seats on most commercial airlines; the HSG was, quite honestly, about the most painful thing I can recall. And I've given birth TWICE since then! And once the anesthesiologist arrived with my epidural only moments before the actual baby! After all the really hard labor! And I STILL say the HSG was more painful! So there's that.

And the next day I also felt sick to my stomach, but I'm pretty sure it was all the wine I drank in celebration (???) of the HSG. So I'm no help there, either.

The worst pain i have ever felt- i actually screamed on the table.. The Dr had trouble
finding my cervix and had to clamp it. Then when the dye was injected it wasnt just uncomfortable it was unbearable.
The pain was so bad i felt as if i were to throw up... I was dizzy and sweating.
Be sure to have someone there to give you a ride home after the procedure. Its been 18 hrs and I feel worse than i did when i left the hospital.

Hi , I had a HSg done that came back normal about 2 years ago. It was quite painful when they injected the dye but was fine afterwards. I was just wondering if any of you had your breasts shielded with a lead apron. I didn't and i just found a lump and i'm scared maybe the radiation from the x-ray caused it. I just remember the machine to be big and hanging over me.
Thanks

I had an hsg done 5 days ago felt fine....but then 2 days ago got really bad cramping and a yeast infection I read that the yeast infection is from the Doxy....so I used meds for that but the cramping is still bad and now i am spotting Am scared i have an infection or something?
